Free swimming eligibility criteria

In some cases you may have to provide two forms of ID – one form of ID for proof of age and another form of ID to show your Tower Hamlets residency. 

To apply for a free swim membership, you must provide any of the following evidence to prove your age and Tower Hamlets residency:

  • Passport
  • Photo driving license
  • National Insurance Card/letter
  • Council tax bill
  • Valid in the last three months: Utility bill, bank statement, rent book/statement
  • For customers living in halls of residence, an official letter confirming residency 

Concessions membership eligibility criteria

Our discounted concessionary membership is available to anyone who receives any of the following benefits:

  • Housing benefit
  • Income Support
  • Job Seekers’ Allowance
  • Working Families Tax Credit
  • Carers Allowance
  • Universal Credit payment page, dated within three months with value greater than £0
  • Residence permit card with refugee settlement within 1 year of issue date
  • Application Registration card (ARC) Asylum Seekers within 1 year of issue date
  • Freedom Bus Pass (Yellow)
  • Disability Personal Independence (PIP) Payment National Disability card
  • Disabled Persons Railcard Employment & Support Allowance
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • War Time Pension Holders

To apply for a concessionary membership, join online or visit a centre to sign up. You will need to provide evidence of your eligibility.

If you receive PIP, we accept a disabled ID card as proof of eligibility.

All documentation must include the customer name and be in date (either valid for a year or before the expiry date). 

Corporate membership eligibility criteria

If you work in any of the following public services you can get our discounted corporate rate on your membership:

  • Ambulance Service
  • British Army
  • Council Workers
  • Fire Service
  • HM Coastguard
  • NHS
  • Police
  • RNLI
  • Royal Air Force
  • Royal Marines
  • Royal Navy
  • Teachers and Teaching Assistants
  • Armed Forces Veterans

To apply for a corporate membership, you must provide any one of the following evidence to prove your eligibility:

  • Letter from company – customer full name within one year
  • Staff ID – customer full name
  • Staff payslip – customer full name within three months
  • Blue Light Card – customer full name with a valid date
  • NHS ID Card (Belfast HSC ID Card) – customer full name
  • Teachers & Teaching Assistants – payslip from last three months that includes your Teacher Reference Number stating they are a teacher or letter from the Department for Education.

Student (18+) Eligibility Criteria

This membership requires proof of eligibility upon your first visit, with any one of the following:

  • Letters from college/university stating you are on a course with the academic year on and full name
  • University/college/sixth form ID cards with the academic year on and full name
  • Student profile with academic year on and full name
  • Acceptance letter from uni/college/sixth form with academic year and full name

Disability membership eligibility criteria

If you receive any of the following you may be eligible for a disability concessionary membership:

  • Disability Personal Independence Payment
  • Disabled ID Card
  • Disability Bus Pass
  • Blue Badge

All documentation must include the customer’s name and be in date (either valid for a year or before the expiry date).
