St George’s LEISURE CENTRE

St George’s originally opened in 1969 and is at the heart of the community in Shadwell. Currently closed to make way for a new leisure centre and housing facility, the redevelopment aims to provide better-quality leisure and wellness facilities alongside new homes for residents.

Proposals for the new leisure centre include a 25-metre six lane pool, learner pool, fitness suite, and studios for group exercise such as yoga, HIIT, Zumba and Pilates. There will also be new changing facilities with better accessibility. The new homes will be genuinely affordable, and large enough for families. One in ten will be wheelchair accessible.

This exciting development will provide residents with access to high-quality leisure facilities on their doorstep, whilst being sympathetic to the surrounding conservation area.
