• Gym closure notice

    On Friday 24 April, the main gym at John Orwell, including the functional zone (mezzanine level), will be closed from 6am to 4pm due to essential works taking place in the indoor plant room.

    All other facilities, including the astro turf, tennis courts and sports hall, will remain open and available for booking as normal.

    We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

  • Monday Tennis lessons notice 

    Some of our Monday tennis lessons are due to fall on bank holidays – 6 April (Easter Monday), 4 and 25 May (bank holidays) and so will take place on 7 April, 5 May and 26 May respectively.

    Our Sunday Table Tennis Club currently has one table in use. We’re sourcing an additional table and expect to have two available again soon.

John Orwell Sports Centre

Nestled in Wapping on Tench Street, John Orwell Sports Centre has a state-of-the-art gym boasting incredible views of the City of London and our studio offers weekly fitness classes including circuits and yoga. The sports hall is a dynamic space where you can play badminton, basketball, volleyball and more. 

You can step out onto our astro turf pitches for football and hockey or make use of our multipurpose games area for netball and tennis. If you are a junior member, we have got you covered with football, basketball, trampolining, gymnastics, and even birthday parties!
