We’re pleased to announce that the gym at Mile End Park Leisure Centre will undergo a major refurbishment from Wednesday 12 August, with works expected to be completed by early October 2026.

The refurbishment will bring significant improvements to the gym environment and equipment, helping us to provide an even better experience for our members.

The gym will remain open throughout the refurbishment, with works being carried out in two phases. As a result, some workout areas and equipment will be temporarily unavailable at different stages of the project.

What to expect
Phase one

From Wednesday 12 August, the free weights and plate-loaded machines area will be temporarily closed while refurbishment works take place.

During this phase, the free weights, squat racks and cable jungles will be unavailable.

Phase two

Once work in the free weights and plate-loaded machines area is complete, it will reopen and refurbishment will move to the cardio and resistance machine areas.

During this phase:

  • Cardio area and resistance machines will be temporarily unavailable
  • Some cardio equipment may be relocated to other areas of the centre where possible

While every effort will be made to minimise disruption, members may experience:

  • Some noise
  • Temporary changes to equipment locations
  • Reduced access to certain workout areas

This investment is part of our ongoing commitment to improving the facilities and fitness experience for Be Well members, with upgraded gym spaces and equipment designed to support a wider range of workouts and training goals.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while these improvements are carried out and look forward to welcoming you to an enhanced gym facility later this year.
